Mice are prolific breeders, producing 6-10 litters continuously throughout the year. The greatest economic loss from mice is not due to how much they eat, but what must be thrown out because of damage or contamination. Mice are smaller and therefore can enter narrower openings, making rodent-proofing more difficult. They have limited areas of movement (home range) and require little or no free water. Mice are very good climbers, and can enter houses through roofs just as easily as they enter at the ground level. Once each and every one of these openings is properly sealed the mice will no longer be able to enter the house.

Mice are not afraid of new things or bothered by the smell of humans or dead mice on traps. If you have many mice, you might have to use a multi-catch mouse trap or a glue board. Mice are predictable and will travel the same route over and over again as long as they are not alarmed, leaving their smudge mark along the walls, pipes and holes. The smudge mark is caused by a dirt and oil build-up in their fur. Mice are curious and will normally approach traps the first night. If you don’t catch a mouse in the first few nights, the trap is in the wrong location.
